What is the Vietnam eVisa?

The Vietnam eVisa is an official electronic travel authorization issued by the Vietnamese immigration authorities that permits foreign nationals to enter Vietnam for short-term tourism or eligible business purposes. The eVisa is digitally linked to the traveler’s passport and removes the need for embassy visits or paper-based procedures.

The eVisa system is administered by the Vietnam Immigration Department and is available to passport holders from more than 80 eligible countries, including EU member states, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea. Once approved, the Vietnam eVisa is valid for up to 90 days and is normally issued as a multiple-entry authorization.

Travelers from eligible countries must obtain a Vietnam eVisa if they intend to enter Vietnam for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short-term business travel. Each traveler, including children and infants, must hold an individual eVisa linked to their passport.

Validity and Conditions

The Vietnam eVisa is valid for up to 90 days from the date of entry and may be issued as single or multiple entry. The authorization is tied to the passport used during the application and becomes invalid if the passport is renewed or replaced.

The eVisa is intended for tourism or short-term business purposes. It does not permit employment or longer-term residence. Travelers must exit Vietnam before the authorized stay period expires.
